While you are waiting

What can you do while you’re in the waiting room of life?

The waiting room of life …

Does it feel like you’re in the waiting room of life? Are you wondering when God is going to answer your prayers and tell you which way to go next? Find out what to do while you wait in today’s Points to Ponder.

Enter the waiting room

Before heading off to an appointment the other day, I decided to plan ahead. I knew I’d be spending time in a waiting room, so I took some paperwork with me. I wanted to use my time wisely. But it got me to thinking: What do you do when you are in the waiting room of life?

Maybe you feel like you’re in a holding pattern right now. You’re waiting on God to open a door or open a window. What do you do in the meantime?  Watch today’s video and read on for the full details.

What to do while you wait?

No. 1: Don’t stop praying

When you’re in a holding pattern, sometimes you can get frustrated and down about the lack of forward movement. And those feelings can keep you from praying because maybe you feel like your prayers aren’t going past the ceiling in your bedroom! But God’s word is clear: He wants to keep hearing from you, even if it’s just you telling Him what He already knows! You’re frustrated and tired of waiting!

Consider reading Luke 11:9-10. Listen to what Jesus has to say here … “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

What do these words tell you about your time of praying persistently?

No. 2: Reflect on God’s faithfulness

I bet this isn’t the first time in your life that you’ve been in the waiting room. Think about what it was like before. How did God show up for you then? Did He make a way to restore relationships in your life? Did He bring you the resources you needed at that time? Meditate on how God’s been faithful to you through the years. How can these memories help you manage through the waiting?

No. 3: Use your time wisely

Even if you don’t have the answers you seek today, there is a way you can use your waiting time wisely. What small steps can you take to be in action for the Lord today? How can you encourage others who are waiting? And what about God’s Word: How is God speaking to you in your Bible reading time? How can you share those learnings with others?
