Ready to feel loved?

Are you ready to feel loved?

Are you wondering where the love has gone? Let’s talk about love, where it comes from, and sharing it with others in today’s Points to Ponder.

What does the Bible say

I was reading through John 15:9-17 at the prompting of a friend. At this moment in history, Jesus is speaking to his disciples at His last supper with them. In these recorded words, He mentions love nine times in nine verses. I know when I see a word repeated in scripture that God is saying to me: Sit up and listen!

What can we learn from the Bible about Love?

No. 1: God loves you

If you aren’t feeling loved right now, let me tell you a truth: God. Loves. You. He loves you right where you are! Nothing in all of creation will ever be able to separate you from the love of God that’s revealed through His Son Jesus (Romans 8:39). The Bible says God is love (1John 4:8), and it says “His faithful love for you endures forever.” (Psalm 136:2)

God loves you so much He calls you His child (1 John 3:1). Imagine yourself as a small child with a loving father reaching out with open arms toward you. What’s keeping you from running into His arms and accepting His loving embrace?

No 2: Jesus loves you too

God loves you so much that He opened a door, making a way for you to spend eternity with Him in heaven. How? Through His son, Jesus Christ. Jesus said the Father loved Him and He loves you. How do you show your love in return? Jesus said that if you keep his commands, you’ll remain in His love (John 15:10). What was His command: To love each other! So …

No 3: Take the love out to others

Now that you can see and experience the truth of God’s love, it’s time to take it out to others. Like it says in 1 Corinthians 16:14, “Let all that you do be done with love.” Maybe you aren’t interacting a lot with others face to face right now, but I bet you have some kinds of interactions with colleagues online or service workers in your local stores. How can you take the love you have and let it cascade to others?

What can you do

God’s Word says that “We love because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19) It’s time to start spreading the love of the Lord back out into the world. What actions can you take this week to demonstrate God’s love to others (1 John 3:18)?
